Handy Rhymes - Hickory Dickory Dock

ITV Signed Stories was set up to improve language skills of deaf children. Both Signed Stories and Northern Film and Media, set up a project called Handy Rhymes which was mentored by Curtis Jobling. Animators got the opportunity to pitch their ideas for a nursery rhyme which would then be exhibited on the Signed Stories website. These were some of my story boards for the nursery rhyme "Hickory Dickory Dock".

Each person was given a map and a hand held device to watch the videos on. When you had travelled to the various locations the video would be unlocked and you could watch it in the location it had previously been filmed.

Our City Our Music Project

For the Our City Our Music project I was teamed up with filmmaker James Rhodes and musicians Ellen and the Escapades. Above are some stills from the music video, the idea was to combine animated scenes of Briggate with portraits of the band. The audience could explore the different areas of Briggate for example Thornton's Arcade or the doorman at Harvey Nicks as well as focusing on the area that Ellen and the Escapades performed their song.

12 filmmakers and 12 musicians were selected to take part in the "Our City Our Music" project. The project was the brain child of Megan Smith, Ben Halsall and Ben Dalton, who had the fantastic idea of creating a geo-located album in Leeds. Filmmakers and musicians were teamed up to produce a music video in a location of the musicians choice. The end result was 12 music videos that both acted as promotional tool for the band as well as a documentary of Leeds 2009.

Pencil Tree festival screening

"Pencil Tree" one of the animations I made whilst at uni was screened at both Exposures film festival in Manchester and Flip animation festival in Wolverhampton in November 2008.
